Oscar 2010 – Winners

March 8, 2010

I swore I would not write about this but I’m just a mortal and I have my weakness. The Oscars have been “consumed” last night and from here we can find out the winners.  Let’s take a moment and go through the most important categories and comment on them.

1) Best Movie – “The Hurt Locker“. I really don’t understand why, but hey who am I to judge? “The Hurt Locker” got tones of great reviews, a lot of prizes but an Oscar is a bit to much. I mean “An Education” would have been a better option from all point of views, hell “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”, even if not nominated for this category, would have been a better option.

2) Best Director – Kathryn Bigelow for “The Hurt Locker”. I can’t comment on that. It’s nice that the ex-wife of director of “Avatar” gets to win this.

3) Best Actor: Jeff Bridges on “Crazy Heart”. I haven’t seen the movie so I don’t know his performance, but I’m a bit skeptical on this.

4) Best Actress: Sandra Bullock in “The Blind Side“. It was a decent performance from Sandra, but I think Meryl Streep or Carey Mulligan would have been a better choice out of the nominees.

5) Best Actor in Supporting role: Christoph Waltz for “Inglorious Basterds”. Well deserved Oscar for a great role in a great movie. There’s really nothing more to say here.

6) Best Actress in Supporting role: Mo’Nique for “Precious”. Haven’t seen the movie, nothing to comment.

7) Best Animated Feature Film: “Up”. It was a lovely movie. I haven’t seen many animations last year, but this was really good. It touched me, and is more then enough for an animation.

For the other categories I can’t say anything as I really don’t have an opinion and actually don’t care about them.

Verdict: If a movie wins an award it does not necessarily mean you will like it.
