"Funny People" Movie Review

December 11, 2009

I remember being so exicted about this one…

I got my hands on the DVD for a month now I think, but for some reason I just did not feel like watching it. And boy was I right! As I supposed (after reading a lot of critics about “Funny People”), it was not a regular Adam Sandler movie, it was a regular drama.

I was not enlightened by this movie, I don’t think I learned anything, but for some reason I was impressed by this movie. It’s that kind that makes you say at the end: “Awwww, poor little rich guy!”. Thinking about it the movie has a touching story, sure the kid got cured of leuchemia, but I don’t feel sorry for him being all alone. In the end we are all responsible for our actions, and don’t forget for a second that if you screw your life, it’s all your fault! Sure there are things you can’t control, like that disease he got, but in the end that was a good thing, because it made him realize that he actually had no friends.

Anyways I did not like the fact that he always got a second chance. He got a second chance with the disease, he got a second chance with his loved one and in general he got a second chance at everything. News flash: life’s not a series of “challenges” but all ends well. You have to at least try to do things right from the beginning. The morale of the story is bullshit. Sometimes if you screw up, you just screw up, you don’t always get a second chance. At least at the end you get a glance at reality, but then it just blows it with another second chance.

Anyway, I was deflecting from the issue at hand, overall I enjoyed the movie and it’s a nice one to enjoy quitelly at home on a Saturday afternoon.

Hope you will do to.
