"The Taking of Pelham 123" Release date 04.06.2009

Two great actors not always make a great movie (see “Public Enemies”), but this time, John Travolta and Denzel Washington made an outstanding movie out of “The Taking of Pelham 123″.
The action takes place in New York, nowadays, where an ex-wall street hotshot, calling himself Ryder (John Travolta), hijacks a subway train (called Pelham 123 obviously) holding all of it’s passengers hostages for a big sum of money.
Ryder communicates with dispatcher Walter Garber (Denzel Washington), refusing to speak to anyone else, thus making him the official negociator.
The movie is intense at all times and has an interesting twist as we find out that the 10 million reward that Ryder asked for is nothing to what he has to gain by hijacking the train.
The two actors plaied their part really well and all of the other side characters helped build up a really nice atmospehere as they interpreted well known stereotips in a “non-boring” way (i.e. the “sleaseball” police negociator).
Anyway, there’s not that much to criticise regarding “The Taking of Pelham 123″ so I encourage you to go see it at the cinema, in my opinion it is worth it! Check out the trailer bellow:
