Knowing (release date 20.03.2009)
June 22, 2009I’ve been waiting for it for a while and I can’t say the waiting wasn’t worth while. I will not spoil the plot of the movie for you but be prepaired for some extraterestrial experiences. The movie had some new ideas (I’ll let you chose if they are good or not) and didn’t exagerate with the special effects but the few ones are really well done.
Since I always have to complain about something, I’ll go ahead and say that Nicholas Cage had a verry poor performance. He seems not to be able to get rid of that attitude of the misunderstood higher being that he is. He over acts just like a “good” porn star, but aside from that the movie was quite interesting.

Serves you right for expecting to see good acting in a NC movie. I think he is like a more commercial, better-paid, less-made-fun-of version of Chuck Norris, 'cause the guy plays the same character in all his movies.
If you look at the gestures, the accent, the moves, the whole picture, you get the feeling that Con Air, The Rock, Face Off, National Treasure, Ghost Rider, etc. are all episodes of the Nick Cage saga. I feel like I'm watching a more expensive "Quantum Leap" show, with fewer and farther-apart predictable installments.
I'd pick Will Smith over Nick Cage any day of the week. But he probably didn't get the part because the movie would be over in 15 minutes: "Say what, boy? ET's cousin is outside? Hey, mo'fo! Ain't you seen Independence Day yet? 'fuck off my planet!"
